Was wondering if this could be used somehow for aacp streams? I'm not able to get aacp streams to play using this or the normal BackgroundAudioPlayer / MediaElement.

Here's an example:
http://mediacorp.rastream.com/905fm (audio/aacp)
http://mediacorp.rastream.com/905fm?type=.flv (video/x-flv)
http://sc.rastream.com:8905/ (SHOUTcast Administrator)
http://sc.rastream.com:8905/listen.pls (Links to the aacp stream)

I added this to HlsView.WinRT.Shared's TrackManager:
            new MediaTrack
                Title = "Test 1",
                Url = new Uri("http://mediacorp.rastream.com/905fm")
            new MediaTrack
                Title = "Test 2",
                Url = new Uri("http://sc.rastream.com:8905/listen.pls")
and both play in HlsView.Win81. I missed that you were looking for background audio on my first read through, but it should behave the same.

Thanks for the reply, sorry I forgot to specify: It works really well on Windows 8/8.1 but not at all on Windows Phone for me. Could you see if it works fine on Windows Phone?

Which version of the code are you using?

It works for me with both HlsView.WP81 and BackgroundAudio.Sample.WP8. Come to think of it, I am bypassing the Microsoft HTTP stack (HttpConnection uses sockets):
    MediaStreamFacadeSettings.Parameters.UseHttpConnection = true;
If you are using background audio, I would strongly encourage the use of the latest source. Many of the changes since the latest alpha are related changing streams in background audio.

Oh! I was using phonesm-1.2.2 beta. The latest source does work, thanks so much :)
